Method:
5,7-dichloro-7ah-imidazo [4,5-b]pyridine can be prepared in many ways. The following is one of the common methods:
1.5-chloropyridine and O-nitrobenzene naphthalene are reacted in a mixed acid of sulfuric acid and nitric acid to generate 7-nitro -5-chloropyridine.
2. The 7-nitro-5-chloropyridine is reacted with sulfuric acid and sodium nitrite in an ice bath to obtain 5,7-dichloropyridine.
3. Finally, 5,7-dichloropyridine and urea are cyclized in dimethyl sulfoxide to generate 5,7-dichloro-7ah-imidazo [4,5-b]pyridine.
